Traffic & Intent Fit

You understand your traffic "temperature": ToF (cold / unaware), MoF (warm / considering), BoF (hot / ready to buy).
Your ad creative and offer match the landing page — no bait & switch.
You are not sending cold traffic to the homepage with no context.
Cold traffic has its own landing page or collection page.
Your traffic has purchase intent — not just curiosity.

🚩 Red Flag

High CTR on ads + low Add-to-Cart on site. This is almost never a price problem. It's an expectations problem.

According to direct marketing research:

40% comes from Audience
40% comes from Offer
20% comes from Creative & Design

If you have a high CTR but zero sales —
you’ve already lost in the first 80%.

The design isn’t the problem.

Diagnosis: It’s an expectations problem — not a price problem.

Increase perceived value (through content)
Rework pricing or offer structure
Or target a different audience for whom this price makes sense

Hero Section — The 5-Second Rule

Value proposition is clear — not a vague tagline. The visitor gets it without thinking.
It's visually and textually obvious what you sell.
It's clear who this is for.
There's one main CTA — not five competing buttons.
Mobile-first: text doesn't overlap images, layout is fully responsive.

The formula: What it is + Who it's for + Why it's better

Trust & Credibility

Social proof is visible — ratings, reviews, "trusted by" signals.
Trust badges are present — shipping policy, returns, secure checkout.
Real, high-quality photos or videos. AI-generated visuals are fine for atmosphere — but if everything looks AI, it reads as a scam.
It's clear where your company is located and how to contact you.

High-ticket note ($100+ orders): Impulse purchases don't happen at this price point. Customers need rational justification before adding to cart. Trust signals — reviews, press mentions, guarantees — need to be more prominent and more aggressive than on low-ticket stores.

Product Page

Photos cover lifestyle, detail, and scale. Video helps — even a simple GIF.
Description follows Problem → Solution structure, not a spec list.
FAQ section handles objections before the customer has to ask.
Price is immediately visible. Buy button is above the fold on mobile.
Options (size, color) are clear. No hidden fees or surprises.

If the value isn’t clear, the price will always feel too high.

Add to Cart → Checkout Flow

ATC button responds instantly — no loading delay.
Cart isn't overloaded with aggressive upsells.
Shipping cost is visible before the customer enters card details.
Guest checkout is available — no forced account creation.
Minimum fields required. Every extra form field costs you conversions.

Benchmarks to Aim For (B2C)

Cart → Checkout Initiated

Target: ~50% of users move forward.

If lower: Your cart UX may be unclear, the total cost confusing, or the checkout button hard to find.

Checkout Initiated → Purchase Completed

Target: 40–50% conversion.

If lower: This is a signal to dig into analytics. Common causes include:

  • Technical issues during checkout
  • Shipping cost higher than expected (or even higher than the product itself)
  • Missing or inconvenient payment methods

Pricing, Offers & Friction

Price aligns with perceived value — not just cost-plus math.
There's a reason to buy now — limited drop, fast shipping, seasonal offer. Doesn't have to be a discount.
Return and shipping policies are written in plain English — not buried in legalese.
No hidden fees. No fine print surprises.

Discounts are a painkiller, not a cure. If your store has a conversion problem, a 20% off coupon will temporarily mask it — but the underlying issue (traffic mismatch, weak value prop, poor trust) doesn't go away. Fix the root cause first.

Mobile Conversion

CTA button is always within thumb reach — bottom of screen, not top.
Font size is readable without zooming.
Forms support autofill — no tedious manual input.
Page elements don't jump or shift as the page loads.
Page loads in under 3 seconds. Every extra second costs ~7% in conversions.

Post-Purchase & Retention

Order confirmation page is useful — not just "Thank you."
Email and/or SMS flows are live after purchase.
Customers know what happens next: timeline, tracking, what to expect.
There's a clear strategy to bring customers back for a second purchase.
Loyalty program actually drives behavior — it's not just a checkbox.

Analytics & Feedback Loop

Events fire correctly: ATC, Initiate Checkout, Purchase — no data gaps.
You track conversion at every funnel step, not just final ROAS.
Product page → Cart → Checkout → Purchase rates are all monitored.
Changes are based on hypotheses and data — not "let's make it prettier."

Don't touch what's working. Every change should fix a specific number that dropped — not just a hunch. Random "improvements" are one of the most common ways stores quietly kill their own conversion rates.

Would I recommend this store to a friend without hesitation?
Is it clear what we sell — without me having to explain it?
